About Warren 1st

For those who are new to TTT (or not old enough to recall the 1957 Warren game), allow me to clue you in.

You see, Warren-1st and I were both in high school when the infamous 1957 game occurred.   Only, he went to Warren Harding, (boooo),  and I went to Massillon.  Anyhoo, the '57 game lasted an extra four minutes, and when Massillon scored on the final play of the contest, winning 20-14 on a TD bomb from the 38 yard line, all blazesl broke lose.  Warren fans still call that football game, "The Clock Game."   Their loss to Massillon cost the Warren Harding Panthers a perfect 10-0 season, and those folks are still upset about it!

For generations Massillon and Warren held a rivalry second only to the Massillon-Canton McKinley rivalry.   But in 1989 the series was discontinued due to mutually bitter feelings.  (As I said, they're still peeved about that '57 game!)

My good friend, Warren 1st, was highly instrumental in getting this series renewed.   Part of his strategy was to taunt and agitate Tiger fans on TTT during four consecutive football seasons, virtually defying Massillon to re-schedule his team.   Well, in 2002, after a lengthy hiatus, our two teams finally renewed this classic showdown.   And that's why I'm entering Warren-1st into the TTT Hall of Fame.   Not only did he work hard behind the scenes to get these two programs together again on the gridiron, but also he's one of the finest HS football fans I know, and his knowledge of sports history is virtually encyclopedic.   As with all Tiger regulars on TTT, I'm proud to call this Warren fan my friend.

NOTE:  One the Next page, you will see a special "ghost" image of the 1957 game.   On this deep pass from Tiger Sophomore QB Joe Sparma, two Warren defenders fail to keep Clyde Childers from catching the winning TD bomb.   Also, Warren's coach is watching our clock replay a countdown after the game.
