SAVE THE TIGER!

Okay, Massillon Tiger fans, it's time to earn your stripes!   Ten-hut!   If you enjoy watching OBIE the tiger cub at the games, and if you enjoy watching the antics of OBIE the mascot while Tiger Swing Band performs, then old TigerCarl asks that you PLEASE take a moment to digest the following information, because OBIE's relatives are in big big trouble.

My fellow Massillon Tiger fans, at the onset of the 20th Century we had eight breeds of tigers living in the wild. Today, three of those breeds are forever gone.  They are perminantly extinct:

The Caspian Tiger (panthera tigris virgata),
EXTINCT

The Javan Tiger (panthera tigris sondaica), EXTINCT

The Bali Tiger (panthera tigris balica), EXTINCT

Endangered species reports indicate there are few Tigers remaining in the wild, and the numbers are dangerously low.

The Royal Bengal Tiger (panthera tigris tigris),   3,500+

The Indo-Chinese Tiger (panthera tigris corbetti), 1,200

The Siberian Tiger (panthera tigris altaica), 360 to 406

The South China Tiger: (panthera tigris amoyensis)  40 to 50

The Sumatran Tiger (panthera tigris sumatrae), 400

(The above statistics were graciously supplied by Beni Carnazzo of Tigers In The Sky)

It's not enough to be a Massillon Tiger fan.   Gang, you gotta be a fan of all the Tigers in the world.  Let's save this beautiful animal from extinction.  I don't care if you only donate two bucks, that will help.  Heck, you spend more than that on stuff like football programs and popcorn and soft drinks while watching the Massillon Tigers play football.  Com' on, Tigers, chip in and do your part.

Can't afford a couple of bucks?  Okay, then send these folks an email and tell them how much you support their efforts in your heart. Whatever you do, don't just sit there and let the last Tiger in the world die without YOU putting up a fight!
