DINOSAURS GO EXTINCT:
There is also less oxygen in the atmosphere, though only a few percent less. Humans, as we know them, have arisen in the scant last 5-million years. Our hominid ancestors evolved into modern man just 250-thousand years ago. Of the twenty or more branches of humans, only one branch survives today -- Homo sapiens. During the last 9,000 years Humankind has demolished the face of the planet. We have the power to destroy Earth; we also have the power to remake Earth a paradise. Should we destroy it, then we humans will surely perish, and much life will perish with us, leading to yet another mass extinction. Once cannot help but contemplate what strange and wondrous life
forms will replace us. |

Tertiary Peroid: Major mountain ranges form. Early grasses appear. Mammals rise to dominant the Earth. Dinosaur chickens grow beaks. Paleocene Epoch: Lower sea levels. Modern mountain ranges form. Flowering plants, birds, and mammals begin displacing extinct species.. Eocene Epoch: Warmer climate. Mammals flourish, become more diverse and complex. Oligocene Epoch: Colder climate. Vast grasslands arise. Mammals adapt and evolve to meet the changes, develop ever larger brains. Miocene Epoch: Africa, Arabia, and Eurasia crash together. Humanlike apes appear. Pliocene Epoch: North and South America merge. The Arctic ice cap forms. Widespread migration of mammals between continents occurs. Early humans evolve in Africa, very apelike, but more intelligent than apes. Quaternary Period: Series of ice ages emerge. Modern
humans evolve. |
. Next, we have a little fun with the future, called: One Step Beyond. ( Play some errie music. )
|
ONE STEP BEYOND: The author of this time classification was tempted to make yet
another chart -- a chart of the future entitled, "The AfterTime Era."
The ensuing epoch would promptly emerge as the Age of the 10-pound Cockroach, lasting 14-million years. The Age of the saber-toothed Rodent would follow, lasting some 7-millon years. Next would come the Age of the mound-building Hog, which would
last until the year 22,000,001 A.D.. Fifty-million years later would come the rise of rhino-sized
high-tech chickens that create a chicken utopia. However, the woman in my life suggests humankind's fall will
not lead to the Age of the Chicken, but to the Age of the Orchids. |

Be cool, my worthy friends. And. please, do explore all the other episodes of the Time Stream. Okay? |
